A Very Special Birthday Gift

Posted in Haven Blog tagged , , , , , at 11:41 am by havenoftheheart

Recently the Haven received a very generous gift from a birthday boy.  Yes, a birthday gift from a birthday boy! His name is Griffin Hatherly, and this is his wonderful deed…

“For his 10th birthday, Griffin Hatherly of Caledon East chose to receive donations in lieu of gifts, for a local Palgrave Animal Shelter called Haven for the Heart. Griffin donated $300.00 to Ursula Hart on Saturday, and spent the afternoon visiting with the animals of Haven for the Heart. Haven of the Heart is an animal sanctuary located on a farm near Palgrave, Ontario, Canada. It is a safe haven for a menagerie that includes dogs, cats, horses and a variety of domestic animals and fowl, all under the watchful eye of Ursula Hart, founder and guardian of the sanctuary. If you are looking to adopt an animal, or would like to make a contribution, please consider visiting this wonderful, local shelter.”

From all the critters at the Haven, we thank you Griffin!

We also adopted a Shepherd collie mix puppy (or so that was the thought to be mix) from you back in May 2011, I would love to show you pictures of how handsome he has grown up to be.

What a wonderful way to make a birthday special!! Griffin must be one terrific young man to have thought that helping all the Waifs was a good way to celebrate his birthday! We need more people like him in today’s world!
